Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the specified age, educational, and medical standards to be eligible for the ALP post.
Eligibility Requirements
Age Limit (as of 01-07-2025):
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 30 years
- Note: Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per government rules.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications from recognized institutions:
- Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI in specified trades (e.g., Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio & TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic).
- OR Matriculation/SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA) in the trades mentioned above.
- OR Matriculation/SSLC plus a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering or a combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines.
- Note: Candidates awaiting final results of prescribed educational qualifications are NOT eligible to apply.
Medical Standard:
- Candidates must meet the A-1 Medical Standard as prescribed in the Indian Railway Medical Manual. This includes stringent vision requirements (Distant Vision: 6/6, 6/6 without glasses with fogging test; Near Vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses) and passing tests for colour vision, binocular vision, field of vision, and night vision.
Mandatory A-1 Medical Standard
Meeting the A-1 Medical Standard, especially the vision requirements, is crucial for the Assistant Loco Pilot post. Candidates are advised to ensure they meet these standards before applying.

- Create Account/Login: Create a new account on the portal if you haven't applied for any RRB CEN in 2024. If you have an account from 2024, use the same credentials to log in.
- Select RRB: Choose the specific RRB you wish to apply for. You can apply to only ONE RRB.
- Fill Application Form: Complete the online application form with accurate personal, educational, and other details.
- Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your recent photograph and signature as per the specified format.
- Pay Application Fee: Pay the application fee online.
- General/OBC/EWS: ₹500 (₹400 refundable upon appearing in CBT 1)
- SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Female/Transgender /Minorities/EBC: ₹250 (Fully refundable upon appearing in CBT 1)
